Title: The evolution of Hadoop & Rise of Data Applications

Description:

Since Google published its research paper on MapReduce in 2004 and 2006 when Hadoop was born within Yahoo to 2009 when Hadoop was open sourced, Hadoop has evolved from more than just HDFS & MapReduce to a platform with a large ecosystem of technologies that solves a wide variety of complex problems at scale.

Join me as I discuss the history of Hadoop, including its challenges, application model, use cases, and the real need for a developer platform for data applications. I will also explain how a new wave of open source projects including Cask Data Application Platform (CDAP), Tephra, Tigon, and Coopr is enabling developers and companies to overcome big data challenges with applications built on Hadoop and related technologies.

Phoenix Data Conference – Featured Speaker of the Day.

The Phoenix Hadoop User Group is organizing an all day conference on Big Data on the 25th of October.

jothi-periasamyToday’s Featured Speaker is Jothi Periasamy.

Jothi Periasamy, a Chief Data Scientist at Harvard Innovation Lab (Harvard University). Jothi has deep “hands-on” subject matter expertise in big data, predictive analytics, in-memory analytics and cloud computing. Jothi has around 17 years of “end-to-end” data & analytics implementation experience, and his experience also includes project delivery, practice development, thought leadership and sales & pre-sales activities. He specializes in several industry processes including finance, point of sales, smart grids, and performance improvements. He focuses on creating opportunities and values through analytics, planning, forecasting, and profitability and cost management, activity based costing, and management/statutory reporting.

Jothi will be talking about Experfy’s thought leadership, approach, methodology, and leading practices for big data and advance analytics. He will also step through a demonstration of Experfy’s financial predictive analytics solutions to better predict financial performances. Attendees will learn the strategy and roadmap and the key steps that are required to implement advance analytics on big data using technologies such as HADOOP, SAP HANA, and “R” statistical computing.

See how Experify’s predictive model uses data mining as a technique for building effective predictive models where the data is visually explored and used to determine which predictive model best “fits” the data. Learn how Experfy’s big data and advanced analytics solution works across industry and business functions, and how the solution connects corporate strategy to measureable outcome metrics – becoming a business driver.
